EXTRA-JUDICIAL KILLINGS: THE FRAMING OF TELEVISION NEWS

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to explore the framing of television news on extra-judicial killings using content analysis. A total of 40 news clips were recorded, transcribed and analyzed using the effects of framing in news framework. Results revealed that the stories about exra-judicial killings are put in the field of meaning by journalists by using the common frames which are the conflict, human interest, and winners and losers.
