Abstract

This study aims to investigate the contribution of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)to the personal and professional growth of Certified Public Accountants (CPA) in the academe. It focused on CPA professors in colleges and universities in Bulacan. In order to fully understand the implications of having CPD requirements in the CPA profession, this study explored the effect of the CPD attendance on the following factors: competence, ethics and values, teaching profession, and benefits and compensation through the use of descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation. Results revealed that the respondents have gained competence from CPD attendance which, in turn, is strongly correlated with competence. Likewise, ethics and values awareness exhibited a strong relationship with CPD attendance. Meanwhile, the teaching profession has a strong correlation with CPD attendance. Lastly, the research found out that benefits and compensation have no relationship with the CPD attendance.
